So let's start off with how this partnership helps Discord right now.

And it's kind of an elephant in the room, because if you open up Discord and, uh, open up your parents' wallet, gamers, because yes, we're diving into Discord's microtransactions.

And ladies and gentlemen, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but yep.

If you go on Discord right now, you will see Valorant themed avatar decorations.

If I was someone that played Valorant every single waking hour of my life, instead of, I don't know, having a job, I'd be all over this.

This one's cool enough where I'll buy it right now.

How much is it?

Twelve dollars?

No, no, no, no, no.

You don't have to get too upset.

If you're a Nitro user, you get a big twenty five percent discount.

But twelve dollars for this thing?

Oh, that's gonna be a tough sell for most rational people on this planet.

And it doesn't stop there because they also have profile effects.

And, uh, let me tell ya, there's gonna be some Valorant degenerate that's gonna buy ten of these.

And, uh, here's the thing.

Valorant degenerates do exist.

Because I was talking to the Discord breadman, and we were talking about these avatar decorations, and it turns out there's a Valorant e dating bundle.

If you don't play Valorant, prepare for the most mind boggling lore on the planet.

I've lost my faith in humanity, I actually had to give up three times today.

Because on Valentine's Day, Valorant had this nice little bundle where it says, E Dater, don't, uh, spend money and get this bundle.

And how much does it cost to match with your Valorant E Boyfriend that is probably catfishing you?

And this sold like absolute hotcakes, but that's just Valorant.

It turns out, our resident Discord breadman has been tracking everyone on Discord.

That's a little unsettling.

And he scanned two million eight hundred members, and one thousand and ninety of them already bought an avatar decoration four hours after it came out.

And here's the thing, this message is five hours old, because I keep messing up this recording and I'm losing my faith in my ability to make a simple YouTube video.

Uh, where was I?

Oh yeah, what I was saying is that this is five hours old, so this number has probably doubled.

Discord is printing money from this.

And the most important thing about Valorant items being in the shop is that it's not just Discord making that money, baby.

Discord will share the revenue of those purchases with the developer.

So if you lack the financial management skills to understand that this is a bad purchase and you bought one of these, rest easy.

You're giving Riot Games your money.

But here's the thing with these avatar decorations.

It's actually a good thing for us normal Discord users.

If we look at this from a business approach, I failed my business class, by the way, these new avatar decorations give Discord another avenue of revenue.

Ooh, that rhymed.

That was pretty good.

Which means that Discord is gonna be more sustainable.

Just know that these are optional cosmetics.

You do not need to spend your twelve Canadian dollar y dues on a photo.

Instead, you can buy two pints of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

However, I need to go back to this blog post for a second, because you can see there's a whole nother chapter that I need to talk about.

In fact, Discord is working with developers because they want to open up their quest system.

Now, I talked about it in a previous video where I labeled them as ads, because they are ads, but companies will pay Discord to have their little game show up as a quest.

Something like, play League of Legends and your reward is being forever alone.

And there's another Discord feature that this Valorant partnership is going to bring to Discord.

And it's actually quite big, and Discord's been dropping hints on us all week.

In Discord previews, link in the description, there was a post talking about Valorant user signups.

The mystery.

Suspense.

In fact, they dropped another thing.

They added text to something in Discord, where you needed to sign up for a waitlist.

And I would keep going with the mystery, but Discord stopped edging us, I mean teasing us, and they dropped two fat experiments.

We have the Valorant user signup and the Valorant admin signup.

Now let's start off with the Valorant user signup.

And, uh, it's kind of been showing this whole entire video, but you see this little bell icon?

That's what this experiment is about.

Because if you hover over it, it says, do you want a preview of new features for Valorant players?

Let me read that one more time.

Does this mean I will have to become a chronically online unemployed Valorant player to take advantage of this new Discord feature?

Well thankfully no.

I don't need to play Valorant to click on this button.

I do have to zoom out though because it sure does look ugly if I zoom in all the way.

But when you click on this button you get an exclusive Discord invite.

Congratulations, you've been promoted to one of my elite employees.

I want to cut that from the video, but no, I need to get bullied.

But in this little invite it tells you preview new features for Valorant players on Discord.

And this is where things get a little interesting, so interesting that I need to zoom into it.

Because Discord has three features that they're trying to get you interested in.

The first one are missions.

You join a one time group of players that are trying to achieve the same goal as you, like ranking up or beating a raid boss.

And the next feature we have, game nights.

Get matched with other players on specific criteria, like playstyle or skill, and get invited to a scheduled gaming session.

Both of these features are Discord adding in matchmaking, but move over to this.

Our final feature are gaming guilds.

which are small Discord servers that are organized with people with similar vibes, I hate the vibes word, play styles, or skill levels, who hang out and play regularly.

And I think the Valorant brain virus is spreading to my brain because I completely forgot to tell you that you can actually click on these buttons and once you click on them, it'll tell you to sign up for a wait list.

Make sure to sign up because you want to be the first people that get to figure out what these special features are.

Or you could wait like twenty seconds because here's the thing, this Valorant user sign up experiment was just one experiment.

There's also the admin signup experiment.

And oh, what happens when I enable that experiment?

Oh, things are just moving around the page, my boomer brain can't keep up with it.

And anyways, underneath that, we also have two other options where they talk about something called clans.

But the thing about Discord clans is that there's an experiment for it already.

And you want to know the nice thing about this experiment?

If you want to play with a whole bunch of Genshin Impact people,

Uh, that's hard to manage and it's hard to make a tight knit group of friends.

But if you made a clan server, which is limited to two hundred people, it'd be easier to make friends.

And chances are, Discord is gonna add a new section here called the Gaming Hub, or the Clan Section.

My ideas are awful, Discord, do not use them.

Let's see how it looks to become a clan.

So when you open it up, you get this nice big scroll.

But this is the charter of the discord clan.

And on the left, which I'm going to focus on instead of reading this, you can do this on your own time.

It's homework for later.

You get to select what games your clan plays.

Now, let me tell you, there's a lot of games here.

There's Valorant, Sakura Clicker, and yes, there also is a real game, Psychonauts One.

But when you click on next, you get to choose your clan's playstyle.

Because here's the thing, when you're searching for a whole bunch of Discord clans, you want to figure out, are you playing with people that are, like, gonna yell at you if you make a little mistake?

Or are you playing with people that will laugh if you make a mistake?

Let's be real, the second one doesn't exist.

Everyone on the internet is insufferable.

But you, when you make a clan discord server, get to choose how you want the clan to act.

Are you one of those gamers that has a nine to five job and is just playing video games to relax?

Or are you one of those gamers that, uh, play games a little bit more than working?

Or are you one of those gamers where if you lose, you'll throw your controller at your mom?

Or are you one of those gamers where if you lose once, you're probably a risk to a massive part of your town?

I know which one I am.

The next up, you get to fill up your clan's interest, and this could be anything.

Whether it be e girls, Scientology, or Fortnite BR XXIV.

And the next option you get to pick is what is the description of your clan?

And finally, you get to choose what's the best time to play games together, and this thing is actually broken.

It's really, really broken.

I'm zooming in and out just to emphasize how broken it was,

But before I lost my will to live and this thing broke, it would allow you to select a time when everyone would start gaming together.

And finally, you get to pick a badge?

Are clan tags coming back?

Are we gonna go back to the Xbox three sixty days?

Anyways, once you click on finish, it doesn't work.

But with the power of movie magic and past footage that I had when Discord clan servers were working, it'll look a little something like this.

But basically, a clan server is like a Discord server.

You can only have two hundred members.

It focuses a lot on the activities of people on the right instead of if they're online or offline.

And the final thing that differentiates normal discord servers from clan servers is that you need to fill out an application when you join, which is made by the server owner and then you need to wait until your application is accepted before you can enter my cool clan where we're definitely professional gamers.
