  • Introduction to Video Content
  • In this video, Jackie Jackson shares his holiday memories of his brother Michael Jackson and discusses a new song that he wrote with his partner, Steve DeBerry. The song, titled 'We Know What's Going On,' addresses the current state of the economy and the world. Jackie wanted to incorporate Michael's powerful voice into the song, so he reached out to the fan club, who provided him with a speech Michael had given at Oxford University ten years ago. The lyrics Jackie wrote for the song matched perfectly with Michael's speech, and when they inserted it into the song, it brought tears to their eyes. Jackie recalls how he and Steve couldn't help but cry when Michael's vocals came in, as it was such a powerful moment. Jackie also shares one of his favorite holiday memories with Michael, which was their shared love for the snow. Although Michael never learned to ski due to the risks involved, he enjoyed being in the snow and would often visit Switzerland to have fun. Jackie mentions that their favorite holiday song is their Christmas album, which is released every year and continues to be a hit. He believes it is one of their best albums and is always played during the holiday season. Finally, Jackie mentions that his mother is a Jehovah's Witness, which may explain why the family's celebration of holidays is different. Overall, this video offers insights into Jackie Jackson's experiences with Michael during the holidays and his creative process for the new song.
  • Subtitles section
  • A new song, and I wrote it with my partner.
  • His name is Steve DeBerry.
  • He's from London.
  • And we wrote a great song called, We Know What's Going On. And it's about the economy and the world that's happening today.
  • And I had this, there was a place in the song where I wanted to use Michael to sing some powerful words.
  • And I called the fan club, and they found this piece for me.
  • The fan club, Michael did this speech at Oxford University somewhere about 10 years ago, and it was so powerful.
  • And the lyrics that I wrote, it fit perfect with my lyrics that I wrote.
  • And it turned out so wonderful.
  • And when we inserted it into the song, it just brought tears to my eyes, because it works so perfect.
  • Steve and I just start crying.
  • We just start crying each other, because it was so powerful.
  • When he came in, it was so powerful.
  • And the background was saying, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
  • With a chat like that, it turned out so great.
  • One of my favorite holiday memories with Michael is that he loved the snow.
  • He loved being in the snow.
  • He loved skiing, you know, trying to learn how to ski.
  • He never really learned, because I guess it was too dangerous.
  • He was just dancing and things like that.
  • You know, he didn't want to take a chance or injure himself.
  • But he loved the snow quite a bit.
  • So we would go to Switzerland sometime and have fun in the snow.
  • Well, really, I guess our favorite holiday song is our Christmas album, the one that we made.
  • It always did so well for us.
  • Every year it comes out, you know, the Christmas album we did.
  • And I think it's one of the best albums we ever made, you know, because it's also where every Christmas is.
  • You hear it everywhere we go.
  • When we talk about holidays and Christmas, well, my mother's like a Jehovah's Witness, you know.
  • But the rest of us, we're not.
  • So we celebrate Christmas.
  • She doesn't.
  • So we have to do it like kind of like not bringing her, not letting her be a part of it, you know.
  • So we have to do it ourselves away from her.
  • Since it's been a year and a half ago since his death, I like to say something to all the fans around the world who's been so supportive of my family.
  • And they just gave us so much spirit and lifted us up when we were down.
  • And so supportive of all the fans around the world.
  • We couldn't have got through just without them.
  • It's something you would never get through, you know, because you lose a sibling like him.
  • But it's not a day that goes by that I don't think about him.
  • But I like to thank the fans for keeping me on top right now.
  • They're so great.
  • I love them all.
  • Thank you so much.
  • And together we can help to stop racism.
  • Together we can help to stop prejudice.
  • We can help the world live without fear.
  • It's our only hope.
